  (Photo Courtesy Grant Halverson/Getty Images) UNC Will Play In Their Exhibition Before Season Opener, Friday Night The #19 North Carolina Tar Heels will take on St. Augustine's in an exhibition tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on ACCNX!  Coach Davis and his new revamped roster look to turn things around after a heartbreaking season where they began #1 in the preseason AP polls but ultimately missed the NCAA Tournament. 

  (Photo Courtesy Jim Hawkins/Inside Carolina) The Tar Heels Takeover  According to college basketball insider, Trilly Donovan, UNC won their scrimmage by 20+ points against the Final Four team from just a season ago in FAU.  Eric Bossi from 247 Sports reports, "Source tells me UNC beat FAU 79-63 in secret scrimmage today. Alijah Martin didn't play for FAU."  Regardless of the point differential from different sources, UNC beats a preseason top-10 team that returns all five starters from their magical run in this year's segment of March Madness.  Big-time national basketball analyst Jeff Goodman releases more information from his sources stating, "North Carolina had NO issues with FAU in a secret scrimmage. Tar Heels were dominant. RJ Davis was terrific. (Photo Courtesy of Grant Halverson/Getty Images) The Same Ranking As Coach Davis's Rookie Season  Despite the disappointing season for the Tar Heels during the 2022-2023 campaign that returned 4 of the 5 starters from their national championship run in Coach Davis's first year as head coach, they begin at #19 for the first go around of the AP Polls that were released this past Monday.  This happens to be the same ranking the Heels started out to be during the 2021-2022 season which eventually ended in them making it all the way to the NCAA Championship against the Kansas Jayhawks.  Hopefully, Coach Davis and his squad can turn things around this season and accomplish the goal they were once 20 minutes away from completing.  Winning a national championship.

Smith Center was a huge success filled with supporters of various ages all coming out to support the men's and women's basketball teams Friday night. The kickoff for the 2023-2024 season could not have a better start than to introduce the people to all of the players and coaches.
