Week 4 AP Polls
The Heels Fall to #18 in the AP Polls
After a heartbreaking loss to the Cyclones this past Friday, losing by a score of 70-65. Following with a down to the wire game against the Crimson Tide ending after four overtimes falling short by a score of 103-101 yesterday. The Tar Heels find themselves placed at #18 in the latest AP Polls. As much as having that #1 beside your name in the rankings feels good for any team, this may be exactly what the Heels needed for motivation. Then eventually leading them to the same spot a season ago, a national title game. We'll only have to wait and see as Carolina fans what this team does in response after the two losses in Portland. A big game approaches this squad with a very tough and gritty Indiana team, who moved up a spot to #10 in the AP Polls. Questions start to boil such as - "Will Coach Hubert Davis use his bench more?". As well as - "Will this team begin to play team basketball and not individual ball?". Plus so much more questions that are still left unanswered, despite being 7 games into the season. Though, it's never bad to remember that championships aren't won in November or December. As shown last season, in a similar scenario as to this one, UNC loss to both Purdue and Tennessee at the Cheez-It Hall Of Fame Tip-Off last fall. Eventually kicking them out of the AP Polls completely, not becoming ranked again until after shocking the world, beating Duke in Coach K's final home game of his career. Don't worry Carolina basketball fans, this season is still super young and there's so much basketball left to be played. Keep your heads high and complaints low, if last season's run to the national championship game has taught us anything, it's that it's not about how you start but how you finish in the end.
