The Tar Heels Unable To Convert From Downtown

Considering the highs and lows of this season for UNC basketball, we have all seen the two sides of their shooting performances.

Unfortunately, in a game where they needed to win the most, not only for the ACC Tournament but to as well keep their NCAA Tourney hopes alive, they could not hit enough shots.

As UNC went 8 for 27 from beyond the arc, totaling 30% on the night. They were seeking that rhythm but fell short.

A big factor in UNC's 68-59 loss to Virginia in Greensboro.

Armando Bacot Struggled And Hobbled

It was very visible that Bacot was having issues with his injured ankle that he suffered against Boston College.

Bacot only played a total of 21 minutes due to his injury as well as Virginia doubling the post, leaving him to make the next pass towards the perimeter.

This eventually led to Coach Davis making changes toward a smaller lineup, inserting Puff Johnson to spread the floor out more.

Bacot completed the game with 4 points and 3 rebounds, making 2 of his 4 shots from the field.

Hopefully this was not the last time we have seen UNC's all-time leading rebounder play in this coveted uniform.

North Carolina Will MISS The NCAA Tournament

After the loss to Virginia, the chances became very slim for UNC to be included in the field of 68, as they have been on the outside looking in during the closing weeks of the regular season.

With the bracket being out now and the first round games beginning tomorrow, March 16th, the preseason #1 team will miss the NCAA Tournament along with declining their invite to the NIT Tournament, officially ending the season as a whole.

As Carolina fans wait until later this year, in November, to watch their team out on the court. Coach Davis and his staff will look to make changes and adjustments during the off-season to bounce back from this unanticipated season outcome.
