Leaky Black Had A Career Night
Black's first four years as a Tar Heel were criticized a good deal, to say the least, though that did not stop him from having a performance to remember, completing the game with 18 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, along with 3 steals, while also going 3 for 5 from downtown too.
An amazing performance from the fifth senior out of Concord, North Carolina, as he looked so comfortable on the offensive end, something that was seen so rarely during his career.
Black looks to continue his success for the rest of the season as Carolina hopes to finish the year in Houston, when it is all said and done.
R.J Davis Was On Fire From Beyond The Arc
Davis got hot from deep, as he went 5 for 8 from three-point land, finishing out the contest with 27 points along with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, as well as 3 steals for the game.
This one felt like a performance from a season ago, during the NCAA Tournament, as Davis rained it from downtown along with getting downhill to the rim, similar to his 30-point game against Baylor in the second round last year.
Seth Trimble Sparked The Heels Off The Bench
Trimble, the former 4-star guard, from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, played well off the bench. In the end, the freshman guard had 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 blocks while going 4 for 4 from the field and 3 for 4 from the free throw line.
While being super athletic, Trimble was getting active on the defensive end as he drew the assignment on Wake's guard, Tyree Appleby, on some possessions.
One play being, Trimble catching the ball on the left wing of the floor, driving to the paint, stopping, and turning around for the fadeaway mid-range. Then on the trip back down on defense, he switched on to Appleby and ended up getting a block on the layup attempt sending the ball out of bounds, erupting the entire Dean Dome crowd.
A special moment for a special player, a freshman in fact.
Trimble seeks to keep this going for the Heels as he begins to earn more minutes off the bench.
It is a huge boost for Coach Davis to have the Wisconsin native.
UNC's Next Outing Is An Early One
The Heels are back at home again for their matchup with Notre Dame who comes in at a record of 8-7 on the season, this Saturday, at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Carolina hopes to finish out the week with a win.
