Chapel Hill - #17 North Carolina once trailed by 14 at one point against Florida State but sparked a comeback thanks to an enormous 21-0 run during the second half. On Saturday afternoon, the Tarheels took down the Seminoles 78-70 at the Dean Smith Center.

RJ Davis 

For the third straight game, RJ Davis tallies 27 points, continuing his absolute tear this season as he currently averages 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists while shooting 44% from the field, 35% from beyond the arc, and 95% from the charity stripe.
 
A part of RJ Davis's has been his ability to play off the ball more as freshman Elliot Cadeau handles the responsibility of running the offense, allowing Davis to be the natural scorer he is.
 
The catch-and-shoot chances Davis has been receiving are more than they have ever been, and it has been pretty successful, hence the scoring totals at the end of each game he's been putting out.
 
The senior out of White Plains, New York, has been extremely aggressive on the offensive end as he continues to make way for his squad so that they can reach the last Monday of this season.

The Full-Court Press 

During the second half, Coach Davis elected his team to run a full-court press, speeding up Florida State's offense as they had trouble inbounding the ball.
 
It worked beautifully.
 
This ultimately sparked the run UNC eventually went on, giving them the lead and winning the game.
 
A great defensive adjustment by Coach Davis and the staff boosted the energy of not only the team but the entire Dean Smith Center.
 
The place was roaring as the Tarheels were getting steals straight off the inbound due to Florida State's lack of a true point guard to handle the ball and fend off any incoming pressure.
 
This was a well-executed game plan that sealed the deal for North Carolina.

On to the Big Apple against #4 UConn  

This coming Tuesday, UNC will take on #4 Uconn at Madison Square Garden for the Jimmy V Classic.
 
This will greatly serve Coach Davis and his squad with the chance to take down the reigning National Champions from earlier this year.
 
The game is set for 9:00 p.m. on ESPN.

UNC Basketball: A Rematch of the 2016 National Title Game

   (Photo Courtesy Jim Hawkins/Inside Carolina) Chapel Hill - UNC vs. Villanova is here.   Coach Davis and the Tar Heels are presented with a contest that has a very intense past history.   Back in the 2016 National Championship after beating a 10-seeded Syracuse team during the Final Four that ended with a score of 83-66. Then proceeded on to face Coach Wright and a 35-4 Villanova entering the game on the last Monday of the season.   The starters for former Coach Williams consisted of a senior Marcus Paige, a junior Joel Berry II, a sophomore Justin Jackson, a junior Kennedy Meeks, and an outstanding senior Brice Johnson.   It's now 2023, with a new coach, new players, and a whole brand-new system due to modern-day basketball.   UNC handled Northern Iowa after a slow first half, 91-69, as six players accumulated at least 10 points to their name.   Villanova defeated Texas Tech in their quarterfinal game 85-69, as the pair o...

UNC Basketball Preview: Jumpman Invitational

(Photo Courtesy Jim Hawkins/Inside Carolina)  Chapel Hill - Tomorrow, December 20th, at 9:00 p.m., the Tarheels will play the #7 Oklahoma Sooners in the Jumpman Invitational. Last season, the Heels won this special event against Michigan by a score of 80-76. Coach Davis and his team seek to snap their two-game losing streak after the battles involving #5 UConn in the Jimmy V Classic and #9 Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic. UNC went toe-to-toe against Kentucky, shrinking deficits throughout the game, which unfortunately resulted in a turnover during their last halfcourt possession in what looked to be a setup for an RJ Davis catch-and-shoot three-pointer. However, Davis blasted for 27 points with seven rebounds and four assists, alongside Cormac Ryan's 20-point outing, shooting eight of twelve for the game and four of seven from behind the three-point line.
