Chapel Hill - #7 UNC, took out the Syracuse Orange in blowout fashion yesterday afternoon, outscoring them 107-67. This pushes North Carolina to 5-0 in ACC play, topping the conference, as they steamroll through the competition so far.

Crashing the Glass

53 rebounds was the total amount (34 defensive and 19 offensive) for UNC by the end of the 40-minute contest. Coach Davis seemed to make an effort, as he presumably does, to preach rebounding, laying down one of the program's outstanding basketball characteristics.

Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram reached double figures, and both Jalen Washington and Jae'Lyn Withers each obtained six to their name, including five other players on the roster who grabbed two or more against the Orange.

During the game, UNC's high-level defense forced many missed shots as Syracuse went a total of 23-63 FG totaling 37%, leading to rebound after rebound, eventually turning into transition points at times, which featured a hail-mary pass from Bacot to Seth Trimble for a bucket.

Little tweaks for Carolina, and from game to game, their effort on each defensive possession just gets better and better.

Steal after Steal

UNC was able to come up with 13 steals against Syracuse, as RJ Davis led with 5 by himself.

This is just more evidence of the improvement of Coach Davis' defensive scheme, which has the Tar Heels forcing the ball out of their opponent's hand an increased amount.

For future matchups, expect the Tar Heels to continue their success in this category.

RJ Davis Turns It Up

After unusually being unable to reach his normal 20-point mark in the last three games, RJ Davis finds himself right in that spot, completing the battle with 22 points on 58% FG and 68% 3PT.

Davis was, as fans would say, "cooking" the defense, reaching into his bag for a variety of moves to beat his defender off the dribble.

Davis continues to be a monster, scoring the ball as he boosts his team game in and game out. No matter the competition, he shows up.

Here Comes Louisville

This coming Wednesday, January 17th, at 9:00 p.m., Louisville (6-10, 1-4 conference) will visit the Dean Dome to take on #7 UNC.

Coach Davis looks to lead his squad to the winning column once more.
