UNC Basketball Preview: #3 Tar Heels Take a Trip to Florida

Chapel Hill - The #3 Tar Heels will adventure off toward the south as they face off against the Florida State Seminoles (12-7, 6-2 conference) tomorrow, January 27th, at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN.
The last time out for Coach Davis and his squad at the Dean Smith Center against Wake Forest, RJ Davis tallied a new career-high of 36 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists on 14-23 FG, 4-8 3PT, and 4-5 FT as North Carolina went on to win in commanding fashion, 85-64. Behind Davis' scoring outburst, his backcourt mate, Elliot Cadeau, was solid throughout the game, as he notched 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists. The freshman's game has continued to mature slowly but surely on a game-to-game basis, turning into a strong pass-first point guard for Coach Davis in year 3 as the head coach. The team combined for 53% FG, 34% 3PT, and 73% FT through the two halves. The Heels totaled 48 points in the paint and 15 points in the transition.
The Seminoles are returning home from defeating Syracuse, 85-69, as Jamir Watkins, the junior out of Trenton, New Jersey, scored 27 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and three steals to lead Florida State. Primo Spears, from Hartford, Connecticut, had 13 points and six assists off the bench to boost the offensive load. Florida State had 15 assists as a team to go along with 10 steals by the end of the contest. All together, they shot 49% FG, 35% 3PT, and 75% FT, scoring 50 points in the paint and 10 on the fast break.
