Chapel Hill - #4 Tar Heels outlast Boston College during a battle that involved an abundance of blown whistles in a hostile environment on the road. North Carolina took the Eagles down 75-66, marking their eighth straight win by double-figures.

Climbing Out of a Slow start

The Heels began the game with a slower start than hoped, as by the 13:11 mark, they were down 14-8 against Boston College. However, it was not until a Cormac Ryan layup in transition, assisted by the freshman Elliot Cadeau, at the 9:39 mark that UNC did not get their first lead at 17-16.

Ever since that point, it was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams until RJ Davis attempted a three-pointer in the left corner but ended up getting fouled by Jaeden Zackery. Davis converted on all three attempts at the line and gave Carolina their biggest lead during the first half of five, raising the score to 27-22.

To close out the first 20 minutes, Elliot Cadeau came down the court and did a few quick moves to blow his defender, which turned into a dime-up-top for a James Okonkwo alley-oop slam. This brought the Tar Heels to a 34-31 lead going into the break.

Gritty Team Defense Until the End

After Boston College's last lead of 16-15 at the 9:41 mark during the first half, they never regained a lead as Coach Davis and his squad led the entire way until the buzzer sounded off during the final 20 minutes of the contest.

Out of halftime, the Tar Heels jumped out to a 9-0 run, stretching their lead to 40-31. This came after a made free throw that followed an acrobatic finish in the post by Armando Bacot and drawing a foul on Quinten Post after securely grabbing the rebound on RJ Davis' missed three-point shot from the right corner in transition.

During the final minutes of the game, right at the 5:12 mark, Quinten Post scored a layup to bring the deficit down to four points at a score of 60-56.

Eventually, the Tar Heels continued to hold onto their lead by knocking down their free-throw line shots.

After this win, the record of North Carolina becomes 15-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

Quick Turnaround Back Home

After being away for just one ACC clash, UNC makes their way back to the Dean Smith Center to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (13-5, 5-2 conference).

The game is tomorrow, Monday, January 22nd, at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN.
