UNC Basketball Preview: A Tough Demon Deacons Team Enters the Dean Smith Center

Chapel Hill - #4 North Carolina flip back home for tomorrow's game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (13-5. 5-2 conference) as they look to extend their win streak to nine games in a row, all by double-digits. The game is tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN.
UNC is coming off a gritty win against the Boston College Eagles, where whistle after whistle was called numerous amounts of times for each team. The Tar Heels overcame the foul calls and some adversity to begin the contest as they routed the Eagles, 76-66. The senior year guard, RJ Davis headed the scoring totals for Coach Davis' team at 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists through a total of 35 minutes of game action. Cormac Ryan, Armando Bacot, and Harrison Ingram all pitched in with double figures as well on the stat sheet. Jae'Lyn Withers, Seth Trimble, and James Okonkwo (who played a total of 8 minutes throughout the game) also notched some points to their name. The talented pass-first freshman, Elliot Cadeau had another dime-dropping performance with eight points and five assists through the 27 minutes of play, looking extremely confident out on the floor with a highly-experienced UNC team. Overall, the team shot 45% FG (25-56), 30% 3PT (5-17), and 81% FT (21-26).
The Deacons are one of the three teams tied for second place behind UNC in the ACC standings, as in their last outing they handled Louisville with ease defeating them 90-65 at home. The junior guard, Hunter Sallis out of Omaha, Nebraska, scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, and handed out five assists while converting 54% of his field goals. Alongside his efforts, the senior Andrew Carr, out of West Chester, Pennsylvania, notched 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 50% field goal shooting. Off the bench for Wake Forest, senior Damari Monsanto, from Pembroke Pines, Florida, scored 12 points on 4-6 three-point shooting in his first time back since February 22nd, 2023 due to injury.
UNC is currently listed at 80.3% for the matchup predictor, according to ESPN Analytics.
