Chapel Hill - After achieving a 10-game winning streak against the Florida State Seminoles this past Saturday, #3 UNC lost to Georgia Tech last night at the McCamish Pavilion after beginning ACC play 9-0, 74-73.

Poor Shooting Caused Problems for UNC

It was not UNC's best game by any means against the Yellow Jackets last night, as they completed the game shooting a total of 37% from the field.

Cormac Ryan and Harrison Ingram both went a combined 6-28, very unusual numbers from two guys who normally put up higher numbers on a game-to-game basis.

Armando Bacot only took a total of eight shots through his 29 minutes of action; considering the caliber of a player he is the fifth-year senior should be taking way more shots on the inside.

RJ Davis was the only highlight on the offensive end, putting up 28 points on 11 of 24 from the field and 3 of 8 from downtown.

Looking ahead, the Tar Heels seek to get back on track with their usually efficient shot-making that has produced all of their success leading up to this point in the season.

Missed Opportunities at the Free Throw Line

Falling by only one point, the Tar Heels were only able to convert 9 of their 17 free attempts, as it inevitably played a major role throughout the game as it came down the wire.

The Tar Heels are currently shooting 75% from the charity stripe and went way below that average in last night's contest in Atlanta.

On the other hand, the Yellow Jackets converted 15 of their 17 free throw shots, setting themselves apart from Coach Davis and his squad.

Round One against #7 Duke

The first matchup of arguably the greatest rivalry in all of college basketball takes place this Saturday, February 3rd, at 6:30 p.m.

This will be the third matchup between Coach Davis and John Scheyer in the new era of UNC vs. Duke.
